Campbell High School has a learning support unit designed specifically for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  The unit operates with teaching and Special Education support staff and has a limited number of students.  Identified students have a special placement through the Department of Education and are run on an integrated program.  This means they attend some mainstream classes with their support staff but also have some lesson time in the unit to work on other skills as needed.

Enquiries about the unit should be directed to the Executive Teacher of Student Services.
Assessment in Special Needs Area

Each student in the Learning Assistance program receives Progress and Semester Reports.  The class teacher writes these reports with input from Resource teachers.  Whilst grades are awarded, some detailed comments are given on the extent to which one student has acquired desired skills and displayed positive attitudes to work and study habits.

In English the special needs of some of these students have been accommodated through the English Studies course.  In Mathematics a modified course assumes some degree of success whilst covering required skills.  However, in other faculties general assessment criteria is used as the basis for reporting.
