OPPORTUNITIES AND FEATURES
Campbell High School offers a rich program of learning that goes beyond the classroom, and much of it is outside normal school hours. These activities take place through the voluntary efforts of teachers, the keen participation of students and the generous support of parents and carers. They greatly enrich student learning and are available to all who meet reasonable expectations of behaviour, cooperation, dress etc.
We encourage all students to take advantage of these opportunities to further develop their knowledge, skills, relationships, and positive attitudes and values. Through these programs, students come to value the pursuit of excellence, team-work, self-esteem, and willingness to provide unselfish service to the school and community. We welcome parents who can help with any of these projects. Please contact the school if you are able to help.

The Challenge Program
The Challenge program provides an enriching education and extended opportunities for our gifted and talented students. All Challenges require students to work consistently at a very high level, to take advantage of extension opportunities, and to use their gifts and talents on a project which benefits the wider school community.
Students from all year groups can apply to participate in Challenges in English, Mathematics, Science and Sports. In addition, a Languages Challenge is offered for students in years 8 to 10, and year 10 students can complete a Leadership Challenge. Senior students can enrol in Extension electives in English, Mathematics and Science as part of their normal program of study.
We meet regularly to publicise forthcoming events and competitions, monitor progress and to keep in touch.
Extension opportunities include the intensive Gifted and Talented Conference for year 10 students and the da Vinci Decathlon for students in years 7 and 8.
The wide range of projects undertaken reflects the students’ interests, including Languages tutoring; running the ‘Breaking Free’ personal development forum; coaching a sporting team at our school; designing, purchasing and organising the distribution of year 10 school shirts; choreographing the school’s Dancefest entry; and participating in Writers’ Camp or debating.
Students are encouraged to enter a range of competitions both inside and outside the school, including the ICAS competitions in English, Spelling and Writing; the Mathematics Challenge for Young Australians; the RACI Titration Stakes; the Australian Science and Mathematics Competitions; Tournament of Minds; the Sydney Morning Herald ‘Young Writer of the Year’ competition; and the Assessment of Language Competence Competitions for French and Japanese.
We invite you to join the program and experience the satisfaction and enjoyment that comes from meeting a challenge!
